Design and technology have become so prevalent in this day and age that they get attached to seemingly everything. Science fiction is no exception. Depending on each production's budget and purposes, directors utilize design and technology to various extents to showcase their advanced filmmaking prowess and/or to deliver the movie's messages to the audience. As a result, design and technology are among the most closely-observed aspects when it comes to evaluating a work of science fiction. When people think sci-fi they often think of futuristic films that involve the advancement of technology. Technology and its advances in design and capability have been increasing exponentially from the outset. Thus, it is hard to imagine a futuristic world with technology in the same state as it is now. Directors and designers must come up with their own depictions of how they feel technology will shape up in the future. This album is a collection of images from science fiction films that contain design and technological elements, illustrating the impact that design and technology have on science fiction as a genre. We've chosen to divide science fiction technology into six separate categories: robots, spaceships, weapons, vehicles, time machines, and other technologies.
